Leading SSE: Skyhigh Security’s Modern Data-Centric Approach to Cloud Security

By Vishal Rao - CEO, Skyhigh Security

May 3, 2024 4 Minute Read

As the new CEO of Skyhigh Security, it gives me great pleasure to announce our recent recognition of being named a Visionary in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Security Service Edge (SSE) for the second consecutive year. This report evaluates vendors based on their Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision.

The large number of enterprise and public sector customers who have placed their trust in us for their Cloud Security needs is a matter of pride. I want to take a moment to highlight three big takeaways, which validates our industry-recognized SSE product strategy.

Takeaway 1: Data-Centric vs. User-Centric Approach

Validated by thousands of enterprise customers using Skyhigh Security to protect their cloud data in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, AWS, Azure, or other mission critical applications, we believe a data-centric approach to SSE is crucial for the evolving security landscape and modern workforce.

As threat vectors increase, protecting enterprise data calls for advanced data security capabilities. Gartner highlights that by 2026, 45% of organizations will prioritize advanced data security features for inspection and protection of data at rest and in motion, as a selection criterion for SSE.1

We believe this aligns precisely with our unparalleled advanced data protection, with Data Loss Prevention (DLP) being a core capability across the web, cloud, private applications, emails, and endpoints.

Unlike other SSE vendors who primarily focus on protecting users, workloads, devices, IoT, and third parties, Skyhigh Security’s core focus puts data protection at the heart of security. Our data-centric approach drives our SSE capabilities to help customers protect their data and stop threats in the cloud across all software-as-a-service applications, infrastructure-as-a-service environments, and Shadow IT.

To add to our recognitions, we also received the highest score in the “Protect Data” Use Case in the 2024 Gartner® Critical Capabilities for SSE.

Takeaway 2: Unified Platform and Dashboard

Gartner also highlights that by 2026, 85% of organizations seeking to secure their Web, SaaS and Private Applications will obtain the security capabilities from a Security Service Edge offering.2

We believe Skyhigh Security’s SSE portfolio perfectly aligns by converging robust products like Skyhigh Secure Web Gateway (SWG), Skyhigh Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB), and Skyhigh Private Access (ZTNA) with integrated DLP into a comprehensive cloud platform. It offers customers a single, unified console and dashboard, enabling a consolidated view of users, policies, classifications, and reports to protect and manage their data easily and proactively. This approach stands in contrast to other SSE vendors who still offer distinct capabilities through multiple consoles.

Skyhigh Security’s goal is to simplify data protection and threat management, empowering organizations to safeguard their data effectively across various cloud environments and applications.

Takeaway 3: Strength in Regulated Industries

Finally, our relevance to the government and financial services sectors are key strengths of Skyhigh Security. Our ability to provide an on-premises version of SWG, appliance-based or virtual, that seamlessly runs together with a cloud version of SWG is crucial for companies. These highly regulated markets and compliance-heavy verticals demand a hybrid web security solution that provides secure access to data, while filtering web traffic, to support the remote workforce.

Skyhigh Security’s hybrid SWG solution addresses a critical use case that sets us apart in the market.

Conclusion

As Skyhigh Security continues to lead in SSE, it’s clear that the future of security lies in a data-centric paradigm. Our commitment to innovation is exemplified by recent product updates, like Advanced Exact Data Match, industry-first AI Reg-Ex Generator, the addition of Remote Browser Isolation to CASB and Zero Trust Network Access, and Unified Index Document Matching.

Our innovation engine is moving forward at full speed. With the future of security being AI-driven, we’ve made significant investments in the Skyhigh SSE portfolio not only by providing organizations the visibility and control needed over these apps, protecting sensitive data, and meeting compliance regulations such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, and GDPR, but also embedding the use of AI to make it easy for security teams to do their job. Looking ahead, our product roadmap promises exciting advancements over the next 12-18 months, underscoring our dedication to meeting evolving customer needs.
